Swallow Airspeed

Section 9.4: Inelastic Collisions: A 300 g bird flying along at 6.0 m/s sees a 500 g coconut heading straight towards it with a speed of 30 m/s. The bird opens its mouth wide and enjoys a nice lunch. [Leeroy eats some oreos.] Hal: "..." What is the bird's speed immediately after swallowing? Hal: "Is this some sort of hideous pun!?"

This is verbatim from my physics textbook...except I replaced the word "insect" with "coconut" and adjusted the mass accordingly.
